Part of the complete guide: Crypto lottery: the complete guide
Before you start
- Install MetaMask only from the official site or your browser's official store.
- Have USDC or USDT on Arbitrum One, and a few cents of ETH on Arbitrum for fees.
- Never share your recovery phrase. No lottery ever needs it.
Step by step
- 1Open the Buy tickets page and choose how many tickets you want.
- 2Select the "Pay with wallet" tab and press "Connect wallet". Choose MetaMask from the list.
- 3MetaMask asks to connect. Approve it. This shares your public address.
- 4If MetaMask is on another network, the site asks it to switch to Arbitrum One. Approve the switch.
- 5Enter your email, tick the age box and press "Pay".
- 6MetaMask asks you to sign a message that says "CryptoDrawz order ORD-...". Sign it. It costs nothing and moves nothing.
- 7MetaMask then shows the token transfer. Check the amount and that the token is USDC or USDT. Confirm.
- 8The page shows the progress while the blockchain confirms. When it finishes you land on a success page and receive an email.
If the "Pay with wallet" tab says it is being switched on, use "Pay with crypto" instead. It works with any wallet or exchange.
Adding Arbitrum to MetaMask
Arbitrum One is usually included. If you do not see it, add it from the official network list in MetaMask's settings, or let the site request the switch. Do not type RPC details from a random page. Use MetaMask's built-in network list.
On mobile
Open the site in your phone's browser, press Connect wallet and choose WalletConnect. Your installed wallets appear. Pick MetaMask and it opens the app to approve. After signing and approving the transfer, return to the browser to see progress.
Troubleshooting
- "Provider not found": MetaMask is not installed or is disabled in this browser. Use WalletConnect instead.
- Nothing happens after connecting: check for a pending request inside MetaMask.
- Network fee error: you need a little ETH on Arbitrum.
- "Not enough USDC": your balance is on another network. Move it to Arbitrum One.
- Stuck confirming: wait a minute and press "Check again". Do not pay twice.
What each MetaMask pop-up means
| Pop-up | What it is | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Connect request | Shares your public address with the site | That the site address is the real one |
| Switch network | Moves MetaMask to Arbitrum One | That the network name is Arbitrum One |
| Signature request | A message that says CryptoDrawz order ORD-... | That it is readable text, not a hex blob |
| Token transfer | Sends USDC or USDT to our address | Token, amount and recipient |
Using more than one account
MetaMask can hold several accounts. Make sure the account that is connected is the one holding your USDC or USDT. The site shows your balance for the connected account, so if it shows zero, you may be on the wrong account.
Keeping MetaMask tidy
- Disconnect sites you no longer use in MetaMask's connected-sites settings.
- Review token approvals every few months.
- Keep the extension updated and install it only from the official store.
Example: paying $15 for three tickets
You open the buy page, choose three tickets, pick the wallet tab and connect MetaMask. The site asks MetaMask to switch to Arbitrum One, and you approve. You enter your email, tick the age box and press Pay. MetaMask shows a signature request reading "CryptoDrawz order ORD-..." and you sign it. Then it shows a transfer of 15 USDC to the lottery's address and an estimated fee of about two cents of ETH. You confirm, the page says "Confirming on the blockchain" for a minute, and then you are taken to the success page. Your ticket numbers arrive by email.
If you use a hardware wallet with MetaMask
- Connect the hardware wallet to MetaMask first, then choose that account on the site.
- Confirm each message and transfer on the hardware device's screen.
- Check the recipient address on the device, not only on the computer.
